With a new system comes new vocabulary as well as changes in long understood vocabulary. The list below is an attempt to keep track of the changes.
New Vocabulary – Old Vocabulary (where applicable) – Notes
- Primary School – Home School – note primary does not mean elementary K-3 in this sense, it is the school that the student attends the most often.
- Secondary School – Cross-Enrolled School – note secondary does not mean 8-12 in this sense, it is a second school where the student is enrolled at. In our context this may be NBCDES.
- EoYR (End of Year Rollover) – YET
- Tokens – Replacement Characters – in report cards used to personalize comments on report cards (name, pronouns)
- References to terms – change to trimesters for elementary Tri1, Tri2, Tri3, terms for secondary will be quarters Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4
- Grade Terms – Reporting Terms
- Transcripts – Report Cards – there is still functionality for our traditional understanding of Transcripts and we are checking on the naming convention for that.
- Pre-Reg – Admit – new K students before school startup will have a status of Pre-Reg
- Schedule Terms – Course Lengths and Formats – define section durations.
